Social media is a fairly new method of engagement, but campaigning is obviously a very old endeavor. When evaluating the concept of ‘success’ realize that campaigns are all about winning and losing, not about what you do once you win or lose. Social media is a tool that campaigns use to try to win elections. Take some time to consider how campaigns have used this tool over the past 20 years or so and what winning campaigns have done, versus losing campaigns. How do you ‘win’ by using social media?
